Catch up with Clyde

Sorry I have been MIA lately, unfortunately, I got hit by the Lupus flare…my wrists were worst hit, and also my left knee, but I ploughed on, what gets me the hardest is the fatigue, so I have been resting up as much as I can.  Although, it does have a knock-on effect, if I sleep too much I end up with migraines, so between the flare, the fatigue and the migraine, I havent been on top form of late.  Thankfully though, the flare didn’t last very long, this is my first winter since my diagnosis, and I have been pretty lucky, I think I am in fact one of these people who deals better with the cooler temperature. We shall see though.

Anyway, last I left you with Clyde, he was chilling it up in the fridge.  The following day we had a bit of an upsetting time with pink child.  As it was Friday, it was ‘Show and Tell day’ so pink child wanted to take some pictures in of Clyde.

All went well, the teacher though Clyde was funny, then, some little spoilt brat proceeds to tell pink child that Clyde is not real, and that he is just a teddy.  If you have ever seen ‘Hand That Rocks The Cradle’ in the scene were crazy ass nanny beats the crap out of a school bully….well, that’s how I was feeling…oh, but reader, it gets better/worse!

One thing with Lupus, and its mainly due to the meds…..I forget things, pretty easily, in fact I will admit I know my memory is not as good as it used to be, and I do not believe it has anything to do with age.  I am not even 40 yet, so it’s either I am generally just a scatterbrain, or, it’s the meds! So I have to input EVERYTHING into my on-the-wall calender, my diary that I carry in my bag, and then into my iPhone.  So, I put a message into my iPhone to Move Clyde at 9:30pm and give me a little alert.

Can I say….Fecking iCloud!!!! Pink child was not feeling great so I stupidly gave her the iPad so she can read one of those interactive story books, then the darn message flashed up….it was bad enough she was still feeling raw after what the brat in school said to her, then she gets that message….she SCREAMED!!! OMG I am surprised other continents never heard her.

The only thing that came out of my mouth was….’Well, we are normally all asleep by now, and maybe, Santa sent a message to Clyde via the iPad (because of course he would!) to tell Clyde to get a move on!  I think disaster was averted.  She calmed down, eventually, after 3 reads of  ’The Elf on the Shelf’ storybook.

So, next morning Pink Child found Clyde chilling on the lap top, he had just finished writing a letter to her.

I know not the best picture, but you get the idea….all was ok with the world as he was chewing on some Jelly Belly’s (Yummm).

Clyde had ‘apparently’ told Santa that he was upset to see Pink Child upset, and because of this, Santa has put the offending brat child on the naughty list…also included was a video from Santa from the Portable North Pole This is a fabulous website…Blue Child thinks it’s so real, he waves to Father Christmas, he was even asked by Santa to not be scared of trying new foods (he is such a fussy bugger and would only live off carrots and broccoli given half the chance) last night, he ate a meatball! YAY!  If you don’t have kids, you can also do this for the loved ones in your life, for some reason, I got one from Santa and have been put on the naughty list as my husband says I am late for everything…pfft!

Next night, I had a night out with the girls, and Husband worried I would either fall into the tree with Clyde or do something ridiculous…so I can home very very drunk, but exceptionally happy, and was astounded to see Clyde on a 4×4 experience!

Sunday night, Clyde made sure the kids would remember to brush their teeth.

Then last night, he was as fatigued as I was and decided it was time to chill out!

Tonight, we will wait and see if Clyde can be bothered getting out of his bed!

Clyde in the Pant tree….(you will see what I did there!)

This has got to be the best ever ‘stunt’ Clyde our elf on the shelf..herm pant covered tree….has done yet! And was a big hit with the kids.

The kids awoke this morning to find that Clyde had TP’d our Christmas Tree and adorned it in their underwear aka pants, which we Brits call Underwear, not pants as in trousers…so confusing! Now maybe the title of this blog entry isn’t as funny now!

Pink child and Clyde made a pact that he would not venture into their bedrooms.  Pink Child thought it HIL.AIR.EE.OS that Clyde decorated the tree in their PANTS but it was about 10mins later as she was eating her breakfast she realised that Clyde had had to enter her room to get the articles.

Quick thinking mum used Cinderella as an example, stating that like the Fairy Godmother putting dishes etc away as they cleaned the kitchen, her pants would have danced magically down the stairs in a similar way….I have to add, I have no idea if the Fairy Godmother put the dishes away by magic, but regardless, the dancing pants theory worked!

More Elfing around

Yes…so, my weekend posting didn’t last long did it! My niece had her 3rd birthday party on Saturday and the whole family got together to celebrate….Unfortunately, when we, as a family, get together, it is inevitable that copious amounts of wine would be consumed.  Which resulted in Saturday being a no post zone, and yesterday, slightly hungover!

So, we missed Saturday’s elf adventure.  Clyde was still freaking out pink child, so Clyde thought it best that he bribe the children into liking him.

Pink child loves art so Clyde thought it best to come back from the North Pole with new crayons

It worked…anything bearing gifts however small they are, will become pink childs’ favourite! Clyde caught colouring in provided amusing for the kids, and it appeared as if Clyde was now part of the family.  I even heard Pink child telling him that she loved him…altogether now…..AWWWWW!! :)

Saturday evening/Sunday morning…..I think Clyde was feeling the effects of alcohol consumed by the female boss of the household (that would be moi in case you are wondering) therefore, couldn’t be arsed lacked creativity

The kids were all excited to tell me what Clyde got up to during the evening, early yesterday morning…I managed muffled sounds omitting from the pillow!

This morning, Clyde was about to set my OCD through the roof..

Seriously…Clyde, this mama no likey mess, Pink and Blue child really really believe that Clyde is really real as mummy would not do that ;) Pink child gave Clyde a telling off.  Blue child told Pink child he thinks Clyde did this because it was snowing last night here and he just wanted a piece of the action….

Now to think about what Clyde is up to this evening….one thing I needed to do was set a reminder on my phone to shift Clyde, Friday night I had gone to bed and awoke with a jolt around 2am as I forgot to move him…now, I have a reminder set for 9:30pm :)

Clyde day 2 and the funniest searches!

I was looking through the hits to my blog this morning,  most of you that have a WordPress blog, know that in the ‘dashboard’ there is a section called ‘Search Engine terms’ and this is usually what people have entered into their search engine of choice which has resulted in them landing on your page.

most of them were ionic bands reviews, but since our elf came to our house yesterday and I blogged about it, I have some, lets say, bizarre  interesting searches.

  • KittyCats advent (hmmm)
  • how do you get an elf on december first at night  - I don’t even know what that means?!
  • How does an elf arrive at your house (Umm)

But my favourite favourite search was this one…

  • Can an elf open doors?

Please, do not burst my bubble, I am aware a child could have been googling the answer, but I prefer to think of a sane grown up looking for the answer to this.  And actually, I would like to know the answer to this too :D

As for our elf Clyde…….

Pink flavoured child was not as accepting of Clyde, in fact, I would go as far to say she refused to get out of bed in case Clyde was going to pounce on her….I nearly lost the Christmas spirit by yelling ‘You have LESS than 2 mins to get out of that bed and get ready for school!!!!’

I have to admit, I had a suspicion this would happen, thankfully Clyde had the same idea and went for the subdued approach to elfing around.

Clyde just decided to sit on top of the curtain rail

As I quite rightly suspected, Pink child did have a freak out, to which I replied and suggested, if it upsets you so much maybe we should send him back to the North Pole…Blue child had a meltdown, then the pink one followed suit.  I can’t deal with this stressing at 8am!

Pink child has had a chat with Clyde, apparently it was none of my business, but suffice to say, the pink one and the elfish one are now friends :)

Elf On The Shelf…

Do not adjust your screen, it is I, but I am not blogging anything rheummy, or Lupusy, or Fibroy, in fact nothing to do with autoimmune systems whatsoever :D

I will say that I have been feeling great of late (I hope I have not jinxed that) its funny, but I recall this time last year I was feeling good too, very little in the flare dept.  It now makes me wonder if the cooler weather makes a difference? Many people complain that the cold hurts their arthritic bones, but remember, this is not an arthritic condition ;)

Anyway, my favourite time of year is coming, CHRISTMAS!!! WOOOHOOO! It was a year ago just now I refreshed my blog, can’t believe that. I am trying desperately to get into the Christmas spirit.

At the beginning of the year, I decided to join in with the WordPress Postaday 2011 challenge….I sucked badly at it! Very badly.

Well, I am going to try something else, its my own special challenge….The daily Elf post.

Over the years, particularly during my various internet surfing, wedding boards, ‘mommy’ boards, scrapbooking boards I have met a lot of  internationals, particularly Americans and Canadians.  Every Christmas I hear of something called ‘Elf on the Shelf’ How these friends name their magical little friend, who arrives in their house after Thanksgiving, and how their little elf flies of to the North Pole to report to Santa every night on how well-behaved the children of the house are.  And how the little critter comes back to the family home before everyone awakes and is in a different spot every morning!

Dammit, that little elf could make me believe in Santa.

I have just discovered that Amazon, in the UK now sell Elf On The Shelf so I just HAD to buy one…This new house friend will be arriving any day now.  And as we don’t have Thanksgiving, Mr elf is going to be delivered by Santa on Dec 1st.

The challenge to myself is to find ideas for our elf, which I have googled and remember to take pictures of him, and of course blog the adventures.

As my son would say…’am so ‘cited!’

To all my America friends out there…Hope you had a fantastic Turkey Day :)
